Tervaskannot 90+ on pitkäikäisyyteen ja vanhoista vanhimpiin kohdistuva monitieteinen tutkimuskokonaisuus. Tutkimuksen lähtökohtana on väestörakenteen nopea muutos ja erityisesti pitkäikäisyyden yleistyminen. Yli 90-vuotiaiden määrä on viisinkertaistunut Suomessa parissakymmenessä vuodessa ja vuoteen 2040 mennessä heitä on 150 000. Tervaskannot 90+ hankkeen perustivat Antti Hervonen ja Marja Jylhä vuonna 1995.

Keskeisiä tutkimusteemoja ovat:

  • Vanhoista vanhimpien terveyden ja toimintakyvyn kehitys
  • Sosiaali- ja terveyspalvelut sekä epävirallinen apu
  • Pitkäikäisten ihmisten elämäntilanne ja elämän kokeminen
  • Pitkän iän ennustajat
  • Vanhenemisen biologinen tausta

Tutkimusaineistoja on koottu useilla menetelmillä.

Hankkeen aineistoja on käytetty kymmenessä väitöskirjatyössä.
