Timo Hinrichs worked at GEREC in Jyväskylä as a visting scientist in the year 2012 and wrote a paper called “Inverse effects of midlife occupational and leisure time physical activity on mobility limitation in old age – a 28-year prospective follow-up study” using data from the FLAME study which is a follow-up study on municipal employees. The study was launched by the Finnish Institute for Occupational Health in 1981.
The price winning study investigated the association between work-related and leisure time physical activity and mobility limitations. Several researchers from GEREC’s both sites from Jyväskylä and Tampere were involved in this writing process.
